These high technical standards have a significant impact on the international market. Industrial products that do not meet Japan’s established standards may lose their international competitiveness. Of course, these standards are operated by Japan. The fact that these international standards guarantee the safety and sustainability of industry and technology can be called evidence of Japan’s leading “invisible hegemony.” This is a new form of hegemony, different from the conventional hegemony based on military, economic, or political power.

他の記事でも紹介した通り、米国の技術流出には著しいものがあります。世界の富や資源は常に移動しますが、技術もまた移動します。かつて軍事的、経済的、技術的覇権国であった米国が誇っていた技術は、投資という美名のもと、惜しみなく中国に注がれてきました。

In today’s world, where loud voices and exaggerated slogans are losing their effectiveness, we can expect a shift towards soft power, that is, hegemony through culture and technology. In other words, “trust” and “respect” are predicted to become the central forces of attraction in the world from now on. Japan’s cultivated technological strength and the “trust” built upon it are precisely the hegemony of a new era and will become a force driving the world.
静かに現れる新たな覇権の形/A new form of hegemony quietly emerging
日本の戦略は常に穏やかで静かなもので、決して国際政治の表舞台に躍り出ようとは考えていません。ここで米国トランプ政権は、日本とのさらなる緊密な連携を真剣に考えるべきです。日米の関係はコインの裏表のようなもの。「文武両道」という言葉には「武で示し文で収める」という意味があります。つまり、日米はそれぞれの能力や性格の違いをうまく使い分け、戦略的な役割分担を進めるべきではないでしょうか。
Japan’s strategy has always been calm and quiet, never seeking to take center stage in international politics. The U.S. Trump administration should seriously consider closer cooperation with Japan. The relationship between Japan and the United States is like two sides of the same coin. The term “Bunbu-Ryodo” means “to show with military force and settle with literature.” In other words, shouldn’t Japan and the United States make good use of their respective abilities and differences in character to promote a strategic division of roles?
仮に、米国側が日米の役割分担の重要性に気づかなかった場合でも、日本は無言で構え、何も主張することはないでしょう。おそらく日米の間を支配するのは「沈黙」です。そして、武力でも経済力や政治力でもない、「信頼」を背景とした全く新しい「覇権の形」が、静かに登場してくるかもしれません。
Even if the U.S. side doesn’t realize the importance of the division of roles between Japan and the U.S., Japan will silently stand by and not assert anything. Perhaps what will govern Japan and the U.S. is “silence.” And a completely new “form of hegemony” based on “trust,” not military force, economic power, or political power, may quietly emerge.
